Professor Julie McGaughran is a pre-eminent staff specialist in clinical genetics and Director of Genetic Health Queensland, Queensland’s state-wide genetic service. She trained in Manchester with Professor Gareth Evans and was involved in the NF1 registry there. She has a number of NF1 related publications. As director, she advocates for both NF1 and NF2 patients and for both paediatric and adult patients.
She is widely published with over 120 peer-reviewed articles. She is chief investigator on several national research projects including Australian Genomics. She has been a member of numerous committees related to clinical genetics including past president of HGSA and member of the council of the European Society of Human Genetics and is a current member of the RACP Paediatrics and Child Health Council.
